The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has imposed a lifetime ban on Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) President Khalid Mehmood and Secretary Col (retd) Nasir Ijaz Tung following the disappearance of three Pakistani boxers during international tours.
Two boxers, Suleman Baloch and Nazeerullah Khan, went missing in Birmingham in 2022, shortly after the Commonwealth Games, while Zohaib Rasheed, an Asian bronze medallist, vanished in Italy during the World Qualifying round for the Paris Olympics in March this year.
In response, the PSB launched an inquiry, leading to the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) recommending lifetime bans on the officials. The PSB Board of Governors accepted the recommendation and referred the case to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
Nasir Tung has rejected the decision, calling it “illegal” and plans to challenge it in court.
