Spain Maintains Lead, While France Surpasses England to Claim 2nd Spot

Women’s FIFA Rankings saw Spain maintaining their top spot, while France made a significant leap to second place and England dropped to third. Germany and Brazil also rose in the rankings, with the USA falling to fifth.

The recent update reflects the continuous evolution in the FIFA/Cola-Cola Women’s World Ranking, with the approaching Paris 2024 Olympics and various international qualifiers influencing the movements across the table.

Spain remains at the pinnacle of the rankings, facing fresh competition from France, who now occupy the second position, displacing England to third place. Germany has climbed to fourth place, overtaking the USA, which has slipped to fifth in the latest rankings update.

Some notable changes in the rankings include Canada, Brazil, and Korea DPR advancing in the rankings, while the Netherlands drops out of the top ten after seven years. Sweden and Japan maintain their sixth and seventh spots, respectively.

Within the top 100, Montenegro and El Salvador have made significant progress, with Belarus recording the largest points gain. North Macedonia has notably surged in the rankings, establishing themselves in 123rd place following impressive victories.

This update also highlights the record-high points achieved by Spain, Zambia, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, and Congo DR. Zambia, in particular, celebrates their best-ever ranking, anticipating further shifts in the rankings leading up to the Paris 2024 tournament.
