In a disappointing turn of events at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Pakistani shooters Kishmala Talat and Gulfam Joseph were eliminated from yet another event on Monday, continuing their lackluster performance.
Participating in the 10-meter mixed doubles event, Joseph and Kishmala fell short of making it to the final round. The duo accumulated a score of 571 out of 600, placing them 14th out of 17 teams, effectively ending their journey in all 10-meter pistol events.
Joseph’s earlier participation in the individual 10-meter air pistol competition also saw him miss the final round, securing the 22nd spot out of 33 competitors with a score of 571 points out of a possible 600.
Kishmala, who competed in the women’s 10-meter air pistol event, was unable to advance to the finals as well. She scored 567 points across six series: 93 in the first, 97 in the second, 94 in the third, and 93, 95, and 95 in the final three series, respectively. This placed her 32nd out of 44 participants, far from the top eight required to proceed.
Kishmala will now shift her focus to the women’s 25-meter rapid fire pistol event, which presents her next opportunity for success at the Olympics.
Pakistan’s Olympic delegation comprises seven athletes, supported by 11 officials. The hope now rests on Kishmala’s performance in the 25-meter pistol events, as the nation seeks to make a mark in the global sporting arena.
