Pakistan Team Announced for Asian Under-18 Volleyball Championship

Karachi, 25 July 2024 — The Pakistan Volleyball Federation has announced the 12-member squad for the upcoming Asian Under-18 Volleyball Championship. The tournament will be held in Bahrain from July 28 to August 4, featuring intense competition among the continent’s best young volleyball talents.

The Pakistani team, fondly known as the Green Shirts, is set to depart for Bahrain tomorrow. The team includes talented players Talal Ahmed, Abu Bakar, Muhammad Issam, Muhammad Hassan, Gibran Ajmal, Junaid Muttahed, Ali Shah, Muhammad Junaid, Muhammad Yahya, Muhammad Irfan, Muhammad Nasir, and Khizr Hayat.

The championship matches will take place at the Bahrain Volleyball Association and Bahrain Table Tennis Association halls, located in Isa bin Rashid Sports City, Riffa. This event promises to be a thrilling showcase of emerging volleyball talents across Asia.

The current edition of the tournament features 16 teams divided into four groups:

– Group A: Bahrain, Thailand, Hong Kong, Australia

– Group B: Japan, Chinese Taipei, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan

– Group C: Iran, China, Lebanon, Philippines

– Group D: India, South Korea, Kuwait, Pakistan

Pakistan finds itself in the challenging Group D alongside India, South Korea, and Kuwait. Their schedule is as follows:

– July 28: Pakistan vs. South Korea

– July 29: Pakistan vs. India

– July 30: Pakistan vs. Kuwait

This group stage promises some exciting matches, especially the much-anticipated clash with India on July 29. Both teams will be eager to assert their dominance in the tournament and advance to the knockout stages.
