Pakistan Cricket Board to Conduct Fitness Tests Ahead of Bangladesh Test Series

In preparation for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has scheduled comprehensive fitness assessments for the players. These tests will take place on August 10, with the players expected to report by August 9. The series is set to begin on August 21 in Rawalpindi.

Sources indicate that the PCB will invite not only the players likely to be included in the Test squad but also those under central contracts. The fitness evaluations are a crucial step for the PCB as they emphasize maintaining a high standard of fitness for their players. As a result, the announcement of central contracts will be withheld until after the fitness test results are reviewed.

The players will undergo a series of five to six rigorous tests designed to assess their fitness levels according to international benchmarks. This approach ensures that the team is in peak physical condition for the demanding schedule ahead.

There is also a possibility that some members of the Test squad will participate in a four-day match against Bangladesh A, providing valuable match practice before the official series commences. Fast bowlers Mir Hamza and Naseem Shah are among those expected to be included in the playing XI.

Bangladesh’s team is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on August 17 for the Test series. The first Test will be held in Rawalpindi from August 21 to 25, followed by the second Test in Karachi from August 30 to September 3.
