Pakistan Announces Squad for ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) unveiled the squad for the upcoming ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup, scheduled to commence on July 19 in Dambulla, Sri Lanka. Following a four-day training camp in Karachi, the selection committee finalized the team roster.

Nida Dar has been named captain and will lead a squad featuring seasoned players such as Aliya Riaz and Fatima Sana. Despite recent participation in a T20I series against England, Ayesha Zafar, Natalia Parvaiz, Rameen Shamim, Sadaf Shamas, Umm-e-Hani, and Waheeda Akhtar did not make the cut for the Asia Cup squad.

The team will gather for another training camp in Karachi starting July 5, which will run until their departure for Sri Lanka on July 16. Mohammad Wasim, the head coach, will oversee the preparations, with support from spin bowling coach Abdur Rehman, assistant bowling coach Junaid Khan, and assistant fielding coach Hanif Malik.

Pakistan finds itself in Group A, alongside traditional rivals India, Nepal, and the UAE. The highlight of the group stage will be the clash against India on July 19. Group B comprises hosts Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand, and Malaysia. The semi-finals, featuring the top two teams from each group, are slated for July 26.

The squad’s composition and training schedule underscore Pakistan’s commitment to making a significant impact in the tournament.
