Nasir Iqbal Triumphs at Bega Open 2024, Secures 17th Career Title

Karachi: Pakistani squash sensation Nasir Iqbal continued his remarkable winning streak in Australia by clinching the Bega Open 2024 title on Sunday. In an impressive display, Iqbal dominated the final against Matthew Lai of Hong Kong, winning in straight games with scores of 11-6, 11-1, and 11-3. The match concluded in just 24 minutes, showcasing Iqbal’s superior skills and preparation.

This victory marks Iqbal’s 17th career title and comes with a prize of $12,000. It also represents his fourth title win on Australian soil. Previously, Iqbal had captured the Tasmanian Open Squash Championship, the Bendigo International, and the Shepparton Open. Additionally, he made a strong showing by reaching the semi-finals of the Victoria Open.

Iqbal has been in stellar form, winning four out of the last five tournaments he has competed in. His recent successes have not gone unnoticed, as he continues to establish himself as a formidable force in the squash world. Last month, Iqbal secured the Tasmanian Open Squash Championship by defeating Switzerland’s David Barnett 3-1, with game scores of 11-8, 12-10, 6-11, and 11-5.

Earlier this year, Iqbal also made a notable appearance in the final of the CNS Squash Championship held in Karachi. His consistent performances and recent victories underscore his commitment and prowess in the sport.

Looking ahead, Iqbal is set to travel to Malaysia to compete in upcoming events, aiming to continue his winning momentum and further his career achievements.
