Mohammad Haris Named Captain of Pakistan Shaheens for White-Ball Series

Mohammad Haris has been appointed as the captain of Pakistan Shaheens’ white-ball squad for the upcoming two 50-over matches and the nine-team Top End T20 series scheduled from 4-18 August in Darwin, Australia.

Haris previously led the Pakistan Shaheens in the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 in Colombo, where they claimed the title by defeating India by 128 runs in the final.

The Pakistan Shaheens are currently in Darwin for two four-day matches against Bangladesh ‘A’ taking place from 19-22 July and 26-29 July. Following these matches, the team will transition to white-ball cricket, facing Northern Territory (NT) and Bangladesh ‘A’ in 50-over matches on 4 and 6 August, respectively. The Top End T20 series will commence on 9 August, featuring teams such as ACT Comets, Bangladesh ‘A’, Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars, Perth Scorchers, Northern Territory Strike, Adelaide Strikers, and Tasmania.

For the white-ball matches, the squad has undergone seven changes from the red-ball side. The new inclusions are:

– Jahandad Khan

– Mohammad Haris

– Mohammad Imran Jnr

– Usman Khan

These players will replace Kamran Ghulam, Khurram Shahzad, Mehran Mumtaz, Mohammad Ali, Mubasir Khan, Tayyab Tahir, and Umar Amin.

This marks the second consecutive year that the Pakistan Shaheens will participate in the Darwin series. In the previous year, the NT Strike defeated the Shaheens in the Top End T20 Series final by 46 runs. However, the Shaheens bounced back in the 50-over format, defeating PNG by 224 runs and Northern Strike by 84 runs.
