Lahore: Arshad Nadeem Resumes Training After Injury, Eyes Paris Diamond League

After recovering from a recent leg injury, Pakistani Olympian javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem has returned to training at the Punjab Stadium in Lahore. The injury, which occurred three weeks ago, forced him to withdraw from events in Finland. Despite this setback, Nadeem reports progress in his rehabilitation and is optimistic about his recovery.

Nadeem expressed his commitment to getting back into top form, stating, “The rehab is progressing well, and I’m feeling much better now. I have my sights set on the Diamond League in Paris. Please pray for my continued health.”

Reflecting on his journey, Nadeem acknowledged the challenges of dealing with injuries but remained undeterred. “Injuries are part of the game,” he said. “I competed in an event a year after the Tokyo Olympics. If I am fit, I will aim for my best throw at the Olympics.”

Nadeem is scheduled to depart for the Paris Olympics on July 24, with a prior engagement at the Paris Diamond League on July 7. His impressive career includes a gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and a historic silver medal at the 2023 World Athletics Championship in Budapest, making him the first Pakistani to achieve this feat.

In the 34th National Games last year, Nadeem secured a gold medal with a remarkable throw of 78.02 meters on his third attempt. His primary goal remains to bring home an Olympic medal for Pakistan.

“Pakistan has not won an Olympic medal since 1992 in hockey. My dream is to end this drought and bring glory to my country,” Nadeem passionately declared. “I will give everything I have to achieve this goal.”

Arshad Nadeem’s determination and resilience continue to inspire, as he prepares to represent Pakistan on the global stage once again.
