Conor McGregor Teases Transition to Bare-Knuckle Boxing After UFC Contract Ends

Conor McGregor, one of the most electrifying figures in mixed martial arts, has hinted at a significant career shift. The Irish fighter, currently under contract with the UFC, has expressed interest in transitioning to bare-knuckle boxing after fulfilling his remaining obligations in the octagon.

McGregor’s next fight is highly anticipated and could be against Michael Chandler at UFC 310, potentially slated for December 14. This bout will be crucial as McGregor has only one more fight left on the contract he signed prior to his loss against Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018.

Earlier this year, McGregor made waves by investing in Bare Knuckle FC (BKFC), indicating his serious interest in the sport. “I have some unfinished business with the UFC, two more fights to go. But I’m definitely eyeing BKFC for the future,” McGregor stated. He emphasized that his involvement in BKFC isn’t merely as an investor but as a prospective competitor.

McGregor elaborated on his vision for fighters and the sport. “It’s essential to mix things up and venture into new territories to achieve greater superstardom, respect, financial success, and influence. BKFC provides that opportunity, and it’s vastly different from other combat sports promotions,” he explained. He praised BKFC as the leader in its niche, contrasting it with the UFC’s dominance in mixed martial arts.

Initially, McGregor was scheduled to face Chandler at UFC 303 in June. However, a broken toe during training forced him to withdraw just two weeks before the fight. Despite this setback, McGregor revealed ongoing contract negotiations with the UFC, indicating his plans are still in flux.

As McGregor prepares for his next steps, his comments suggest a growing inclination towards bare-knuckle boxing. “BKFC is the top in its category, just as the UFC is in mixed martial arts. It’s an exciting and distinct avenue, and I see a future for myself there,” McGregor concluded.

With his dynamic career and bold moves, McGregor continues to captivate the combat sports world, leaving fans eager to see where he’ll fight next.
