Pakistan’s Test captain, Shan Masood, and the white-ball captain, Babar Azam, are pictured alongside each other. Captain Shan Masood, head coach Jason Gillespie, and the selection committee have begun discussions regarding Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh in August.
According to sources, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi may be rested for these Test matches. Haris Rauf is not being considered for inclusion in the squad.
Potential squad members being considered include Saud Shakeel, Abdullah Shafique, Salman Ali Agha, and former captain and wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed. For the fast bowling lineup, Naseem Shah, Shahnawaz Dahani, Mir Hamza, Khurram Shahzad, and Aamir Jamal are under consideration.
This series will mark the first time since the 2019-2020 season that Pakistan will host Bangladesh. The series is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-2025. It will also be Gillespie’s first assignment as head coach of the Pakistan Test team, following his appointment in April, and Masood’s second assignment as Test captain after leading the team in a three-Test series in Australia, which Pakistan lost 3-0.
Currently, Shan Masood is captaining the Yorkshire County Cricket Club in the County Championship. In the recent T20 World Cup, Pakistan was knocked out in the initial group stage, whereas Bangladesh has advanced to the Super 8.
