Aussies to Rest Stars for Pakistan T20Is Ahead of India Tests

Australia’s all-format players might sit out the T20I series against Pakistan in November 2024 to prepare for the significant Test series against India at home, as per a report by ESPNCricinfo.

Australia is slated to host Pakistan for six limited-overs matches, which include three ODIs and three T20Is, between November 4 and 18.

The tour kicks off with an ODI series starting on November 4, followed by matches on November 8 and 10. The T20I series is set to run from November 14 to 18.

Due to the close scheduling of the T20Is and the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy, starting on November 22, many of Australia’s key multi-format players might be omitted from the T20I squad to prioritize Test match preparations. These players, such as Travis Head, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Marsh, and Josh Hazlewood, will likely be given the best possible facilities to get ready for the five-Test series, with the Sheffield Shield beginning on October 8. Even if they miss the first round, they will have three First-Class matches to prepare for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Pakistan vs Australia ODI series schedule:

– November 4: Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne (Day/Night)

– November 8: Adelaide Oval, Adelaide (Day/Night)

– November 10: Perth Stadium, Perth (Day/Night)

Pakistan vs Australia T20I series schedule:

– November 14: The Gabba, Brisbane (Night)

– November 16: Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney (Night)

– November 18: Bellerive Oval, Hobart (Night)

This strategic decision underscores the importance Australia places on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and their intention to ensure their key players are in optimal form for the high-stakes Test series against India.
