Asim Khan Wins Jones Creek Open Squash Championship in USA

In a thrilling showdown at the Jones Creek Open Squash Championship in Johns Creek, Georgia, Pakistan’s Asim Khan emerged victorious, adding another prestigious title to his collection. The championship match, which offered a prize purse of USD 12,000, saw Asim triumph over fellow Pakistani player Ahsab Irfan with a scoreline of 3-1.

Ranked World No. 73 and holding the title of Pakistan’s top squash player, Asim Khan displayed remarkable resilience and skill. Despite dropping the first game, he fought back to secure the win against Irfan, who was seeded third in the tournament. The final scores read 11-7, 7-11, 4-11, and 4-11 in favor of Asim.

This victory marks Asim Khan’s third Professional Squash Association (PSA) title of 2024 and the 10th of his career. Earlier this year, he won the Wild Card Challenger in Washington and the Squash Inspire Challenger, cementing his status as a formidable force in the squash world.

In related news, Nasir Iqbal, another rising star from Pakistan, continued his winning streak by securing the Tasmanian Open Squash Championship in Australia. Iqbal defeated Switzerland’s David Barnett with scores of 11-8, 12-10, 6-11, and 11-5. This victory adds to his impressive record in Australia, having already won the Bendigo International and the Shepparton Open earlier this year, and reaching the semi-finals of the Victoria Open.

Both Asim Khan and Nasir Iqbal’s recent successes underscore the strength and potential of Pakistani squash on the international stage.
