The Pakistan women’s cricket team is set to compete in the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2024 in Sri Lanka, following an intensive training camp held in Karachi from July 5 to July 16. This training aimed to prepare the 15-member squad for the upcoming tournament.

Scheduled to take place from July 19 to July 28 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Sri Lanka, the tournament will feature eight teams divided into two groups. Group A includes Pakistan, India, Nepal, and the UAE, while Group B consists of Bangladesh, Malaysia, Thailand, and the host nation Sri Lanka. The top two teams from each group will proceed to the semi-finals, with the final match scheduled for July 28.

Pakistan will kick off their campaign against India on the evening of July 19. The same day will also feature the tournament’s opening match between Nepal and the UAE. Pakistan’s subsequent matches are set against Nepal on July 21 and the UAE on July 23.

In the previous edition of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup held in Sylhet, Bangladesh, in October 2022, Pakistan made it to the semi-finals but lost to Sri Lanka by just one run.

In a strategic move, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced changes in the team management ahead of the tournament. Muhammad Wasim has been appointed as the head coach, with Junaid Khan and Abdur Rehman joining as assistant and spin-bowling coaches, respectively.
