Scotland to Host Australia Men’s T20 series in September

Cricket Scotland and Cricket Australia are thrilled to confirm an upcoming men’s T20 international series in Scotland scheduled for September 2024.

The series will feature three T20 internationals between the teams at The Grange, Edinburgh, on 4th, 6th, and 7th September, preceding Australia’s engagements against England later in the month.

These matches mark Australia’s return to Scotland since their last visit in 2013 for an ODI at The Grange, where they emerged victorious. Their most recent encounter was at the 2015 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, also resulting in an Australian triumph.

The announcement comes ahead of Scotland and Australia’s clash in St Lucia in Group B of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

“We are excited to unveil these fixtures, concluding what has been a remarkable summer for Scottish cricket. Our women’s team secured their inaugural qualification for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup later this year, while our men’s team has been making our nation proud during their ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup campaign.

Following our men’s ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 home series in July and the U19 Women’s World Cup Europe Qualifier in August, welcoming the reigning men’s ODI and Test champions, along with the world’s no.2 ranked T20I team, to Scotland is a momentous occasion. We invite all supporters of Scottish cricket to join us at The Grange in Edinburgh for these three matches, united in our passion for the game of cricket.

A tremendous amount of effort is being invested to elevate Scottish cricket across all levels, and we are grateful for the ongoing support as we strive to enhance Scottish cricket every day. We are immensely proud of the dedication shown by our volunteers, coaches, administrators, match officials, and players in advancing the sport. This series presents a wonderful opportunity for many of them to participate in matches where our nation’s finest athletes compete against world-class opponents on home turf.”

Nick Hockley, Chief Executive of Cricket Australia

“We extend our gratitude to Cricket Scotland for hosting what promises to be an enjoyable and competitive series as part of our white-ball tour of Britain.

“It has been truly inspiring to witness the progress of both Scotland teams, evident in their performance at the current ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and their qualification for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in October.

“Supporting the global growth of cricket is a strategic priority for Australian Cricket, and we believe this series will further stimulate interest in the sport across all levels in Scotland.”

Richie Berrington, Scotland’s Captain

“We eagerly anticipate this home series later in the summer, which promises to be a special occasion for all our supporters.

“I had the privilege of playing for Scotland when Australia last visited in 2013. Despite the outcome not favoring us that day, it was a memorable experience.

“Our players always relish the opportunity to challenge themselves against the world’s best teams, and we have shown promising form in this World Cup so far. I am confident it will be an exciting and competitive series.”

Mitch Marsh, Australia’s T20 captain
“I am genuinely thrilled about our upcoming trip and the series in Scotland, and I know the entire team shares my excitement.

“My brother Shaun had the privilege of playing in the last game we competed in Edinburgh and spoke highly of the experience, so I am eager to follow in his footsteps.

“Scotland has evolved into a formidable unit, as demonstrated in this World Cup. It will be a great honor to compete against them on their home ground.”

Further details regarding ticketing and match timings will be communicated in early July. Hospitality opportunities will be available through Matchpoint, with more information to follow.
