Ons Jabeur, the prominent Tunisian tennis star, has announced her withdrawal from the Paris Olympics 2024. The decision stems from concerns over injury risks associated with playing on clay courts, the same surface used for the French Open. Following her quarter-final match at the French Open, Jabeur plans to transition to grass courts, then to hard courts for the US Open.
After consulting with her medical team, Jabeur concluded that the rapid surface transitions could endanger her knee and affect the remainder of her season. She expressed her disappointment on social media but emphasized the necessity of prioritizing her health.
Jabeur, the first Arab woman to win a WTA Tour title, will be focusing on her upcoming performance at Wimbledon starting July 1.
